This small doll, called a Kewpie doll, belonged to Norma Paul and was well played with when she was growing up in the 1930s. These dolls were inspired by a series of comic strip characters by cartoonist Rose O’Neill. Originally made out of bisque, dolls like this one were more commonly made of celluloid.
This doll was donated by Norma in 2014, and is just one of many items in the Paul family collection that help to tell the story of her family. Norma was the daughter of Norman Paul and Caroline Mary Bowland, whose family worked at Mount Blow Farm in Ramsay Township.
