This watch was given as a gift to Rebecca Armstrong for her wedding to Andrew McPhail. They married on December 23rd, 1908. When Rebecca passed away suddenly in 1911 at 22 years old, Andrew remained a faithful bachelor in the town for many years, dedicating his time to the family farm, serving as councillor for Ramsay County Council, and raced his favoured horse’Betty.’ He only remarried in 1939 to Myra Cochrane.
